CO2 Calculator – Becoming more sustainable together with our customers
Majestic’s motto is “Protect What Really Matters”. This is not just about protecting ourselves during our work. At Majestic, we also see this as protecting the earth, the environment and our fellow human beings. Therefore, this year we have focused on projects that reduce our own environmental impact and increase our customers’ awareness and understanding of this issue. One such project is the CO2 Calculator which is now available to our customers.
What is the CO2 Calculator?
Majestic’s CO2 Calculator gives customers insight into the CO2 emissions of their deliveries. In the dashboard, customers can see the number of deliveries and the CO2 emissions created in the process. In addition, the Calculator shows the impact on CO2 emissions if the customer bundles orders and reduces the number of delivery moments. For example, by adjusting the number of delivery moments in the dashboard, customers can see the difference between different options.
With this dashboard, we hope to achieve the following:
- Giving our customers insight into their scope 3 emissions;
- Encourage our customers to adjust their ordering behaviour and thereby reduce their environmental impact;
- Create awareness that small actions, such as different ordering behaviour, can already make a big difference to the environment.
How is the calculation being made?
There are some assumptions in the model because, unfortunately, we cannot determine all transport data with certainty. For example, the number of kilometres was calculated from the DHL distribution centre directly to the customer. This does not take into account any routes or other delivery addresses of other DHL customers. Also, each customer is divided into a province, to which a DHL centre is linked. This does not mean that this is also the actual route the shipment took.
Despite these assumptions, the CO2 Calculator gives a nice indication of CO2 emissions and the impact of our customers’ ordering decisions. In this way, we quickly provide practical insights and support our customers in their sustainability efforts.
